What Lesson Modes are available and how are they different?

There are three different lesson modes.

Assessment Mode - Quickly identifies a starting point

Learning Target Mode - Aligns with the student's IEP goals or learning targets

Reinforcement Mode - Provides ongoing skill reinforcement to ensure retention of skills/concepts

Assessment Mode

What it is When to use

A built-in proprietary algorithm assesses student answers in real-time

Pushes a student forward to more advanced skills when proficiency is demonstrated

Reinforces foundational skills when needed

Identifies an initial starting point, this mode can also be a powerful tool to help

Assesses a student's skill gaps to connect with resources found in the Standards Edition curriculum

Assess a newly enrolled/identified student

Measure skill retention following an extended break from school (summer break, winter holiday)

Measure the impact of instruction to inform adjustments to a student's learning plan

Learning Target Mode

What it is When to use

The educator starts the student at the "Starting Point" identified in Assessment Mode and then selects a target skill that matches the student’s IEP goal or individual skill target

Generates a lesson plan that includes each key foundational skill needed to help the student reach the goal

Releases each additional new skill, with teacher input, when the student is ready to progress

Allows the educator to intervene when needed

Includes crosswalks to the Standards Edition curriculum, making it easy to differentiate support and maximize student potential

After a starting point is identified by the Assessment Mode

Measure progress toward the student's specific IEP goal or learning target

Support students with print curriculum resources aligned with the student's IEP goal

Reinforcement Mode

What it is When to use

A blended digital and print mode that guides educators to create learning plans

Allows targeted practice on specific skill gaps identified during Learning Target plans

Offers ongoing reinforcement to students, helping them retain previously learned math concepts and skills

Reinforces skills and maintains retention without recycling problems

To create learning plans for targeted practice on a particular skill (or combination of skills)

Reinforces previously learned skills to ensure long-term retention

Provide additional review when skill gaps are identified in the Learning Target Mode
