Academic Screeners: What information is available after students complete an Academic Screener?
Once a student has completed a screener, their results are available under the Progress Monitoring tile. Their performance is summarized with overall and domain-specific scale scores and grade level equivalents. Bar graphs indicate where the student is performing compared to peers tested at the same level.
For students completing the kindergarten through sixth grade tests; additional data is collected indicating the student's risk status with foundational numeracy skills.
Step-by-Step Guidance
Navigate to the Progress Monitoring tile on the MyTouchMath Dashboard
- Click "Academic Screener"
- Select the appropriate Student Group
Group Level View
Look at the group shown below.
- Ali M and Carl Sagan are students in this group
- Notice that Ali M has an Overall Score of 430 shown
- Notice that Carl S doesn't have a score visible - and a red exclamation point is showing - hover over the red exclamation point to read this alert "Screener Assigned but not yet taken"

Click on a student's name (who has a score visible)
Test data is shown in five main sections. Each section is explained below using Ali M's results.
Test Attempt Details
Notice the test details across the top of the screen

- Testing Window: Spring (Mar 31 - Jun 29) - Use the dropdown arrow to select a different test window to view previously earned scores and track growth.
- Test Details: Grade 5 - English Academic Screener (Date Completed) - Use the dropdown to select a different test completion (if applicable)
- Print: Click this to generate a printed version of this report
Note: TouchMath recommends sharing this data with key colleagues as well as caregivers when communicating student progress throughout the school year.
- Test Date: Date the test was completed
- Overall Score: Scale Score earned on overall test
- GLE: Grade Level Equivalence (Readiness) earned
- Time-on-Task: Time spent completing the test in hours, minutes and seconds
Overall and Domain-Specific Scores
Each student that completes an Academic Screener earns overall and domain-specific scale scores and grade level readiness equivalents. These are displayed on horizontal bar graphs.
Each bar graph has the same features:
- The range of scale scores possible on the test are shown along the bottom of each graph. This ranges from 180 - 800.
- Notice the legend for the background color of the bar graphs:
- On Track - Green
- Build Skills - Yellow
- Focus Support - Red
Overall Readiness: Is a summary of the student's performance on the screener as a whole.

Domain-Specific Readiness
Beneath the overall readiness graph, you'll see a bar graph for each domain tested. Notice that the student's scale score and grade level readiness equivalence is displayed for each domain.

Dyscalculia Risk Status
The Academic Screeners within TouchMath do not diagnose dyscalculia. We identify whether additional testing for dyscalculia is recommended based on the student's performance on early indicators.
The Academic Screener is specifically designed to determine a student’s risk for mathematical difficulty and the need for intervention.

Early Numeracy Risk Status
Math skills build progressively, with each concept relying on understanding the skills that come before it. Before students can successfully engage with more complex mathematical ideas, they must develop a strong foundation in basic concepts.
These Numeracy Indicators are intentionally sequenced to reflect skill progression; beginning with essential skills such as counting principles, number identity, place value, and basic arithmetic, which serve as the building blocks for more advanced math learning, including spatial reasoning and understanding part-part and part-whole relationships.

TouchMath Curriculum Suggested Entry Point
Based on each student's performance with Early Numeracy indicators, an entry point has been suggested to support the student with the least complex numeracy indicator their performance indicated at risk.
