Math Screening Tool from TouchMath
DySc (Dyscalculia Screener) is a screening tool developed and subsidized by TouchMath.
The screener includes key questions to help identify weaknesses in the four key components
of dyscalculia and math difficulties, and then provides a report (aligned to The Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), indicating the presence
or lack of potential risk factors, with an action plan for immediate support.
Important: The DySc is publicly available for anyone to use. However, for the results and data to appear within TouchMath, you’ll need to complete the steps outlined below.
Administer the DySC
Prepare
- Identify the student to be screened
- Prepare a quiet location and ample time (between 15 - 20 minutes)
Technical Set Up
From your MyTouchMath Teacher Login
- Navigate to the Class/Group where the student is enrolled
Click on the student's name in the roster list
- Then, locate the Manage Lessons menu near the top of the screen
- Open the menu and then select: DySc icon next to "Screen Student for Dyscalculia"
DySc Assessment Set Up
A new browser window will open
- Verify the student's information on the screen
- Type your email address
- Click "continue"
Set Assessment Parameters
- Set the student's age
- Choose the format and presentation for the DySc
- English or Spanish versions available
- Digital or printed assessment
Administer the Screener
Pro Tips:
- Complete the Teacher Survey immediately after the student has finished the DySc
- The teacher's Email Address must match that of the teacher who is logged in and who has this student in a group
