What are Proficiency Expectations, and how can I customize them for students?

Proficiency Expectations are shown on Student Roster screens and indicate how each student's current performance aligns with their IEP or math achievement plans and goals.

What They Are and Where They Are Found

Navigate to a Roster

  • The example below shows Mrs. Taylor's Group
  • Notice the column titled Proficiency
  • Each student who has completed lessons or assignments has an average score shown in percentages displayed
  • Notice the colored ring around the score
  • Default settings are used for each student until or unless an educator modifies them
  • Educators can quickly glance at this screen and see how students are doing against their individual goals
    • Green Proficient - Proceed: Student's overall performance is equal to or greater than the Proficiency Expectation
    • Yellow Making Progress - Review: Student's overall performance is within the default or customized range
    • Red Intervention - Reteach: Student's overall performance is below the expectation for Making Progress

What to Look For

Look at the example below highlighting Benjamin's and Ernie's performance

  • Benjamin's current average is 82.3, and Ernie's is 85.
  • Benjamin's average is circled in yellow, indicating he has not yet reached his proficiency expectation
  • Ernie's average is circled in green, indicating that his current average meets his proficiency expectation

Step-by-Step Guidance to Customize Them

  • Click the pencil icon along the right side of the screen

  • A new screen opens
  • Notice the Proficiency Expectations bar near the bottom of the screen
  • Adjust the score ranges for this student by clicking on the arrows and dragging them to align with the student's IEP or math achievement goals
