How do I interpret the TouchMath Individual Student Placement Report

The Individual Student Placement Report helps you identify the best starting point in the TouchMath curriculum for each student based on their performance on the Mathematics Universal Screener and the TouchMath materials purchased.

Here’s what the report includes and how to use it:

What the Report Shows

  • Screener Performance: Maps each student’s results to Early Numeracy Indicators and Grade Level Equivalents (GLEs).
  • Placement Recommendations: Identifies where a student should begin within the TouchMath curriculum—organized by units and modules.

This report is available for any student who completes a Kindergarten through 6th-grade Universal Screener, including older students who take an off-grade-level assessment.

Understanding Early Numeracy Indicators

  • These indicators help determine student entry points.
  • They span from Kindergarten through 6th grade and build on each other.
  • Students benefit most when they have a solid understanding of each indicator before moving on.

How TouchMath Curriculum Aligns

  • Each grade level starts with Counting Principles and Number Identification.
  • As students progress, additional indicators are introduced through each unit, module, and cluster.
  • The report uses both GLE and at-risk flags to suggest the most appropriate starting point.

How to Use the Report

  • Grades K–2: Use both GLE and at-risk indicators to guide placement.
  • Grades 3–6: Focus on the specific at-risk indicator to determine where to begin
